WHAT IS THE "BCYSSA"?
The Brant County Youth Shooting Sports Association (BCYSSA) is a youth oriented association
intended to introduce Brant County and surrounding area youth to the enjoyment and responsibilities
of shooting sports including conventional firearms and archery equipment in a safe, mentored and pleasurable environment.
The program's focus is to instill in its participants a set of personal values and the character traits of fair play,
compassionate understanding, teamwork, individual and collective responsibility, self-discipline and personal commitment
.....qualities that will serve them well in all sports, and indeed, throughout their lives.
Members of the Association will be mentored, not only in shooting activities, but also in sportsmanlike conduct, outdoor ethics and other related content.
Goals of the Association include:
Provide a supportive, team-based environment for the teaching of life lessons and skills that emphasize positive character traits and high citizenship values.
Introduce youth to sports that may be enjoyed for a lifetime; sports that offer level playing fields in terms of participation and equipment and sports that offer all family members opportunities to participate.
Foster an understanding and appreciation of wildlife and a commitment to conservation through exposure to hunting and other related outdoor activities.
Teaching youth the necessities and practices of safe and responsible handling of firearms.
To create an association model that may be utilized by other groups, in other areas, to create similar associations (firearms only, archery only or combination associations), broadening shooting sports opportunities for all.
